Tesla Mail Blast
For this project, we were asked to make what would usually be "junk mail" that was interesting enough, the receiver wouldn't immediately throw the mailer away and would take an interest in it. It could be for any product we wanted.
Because I am a big fan of Teslas and wish I could have my own Tesla, I decided to do a fun mailer for them, because at the time, they were still kind of up-and-coming instead of as popular as they are at the moment. My brother lived by three Tesla dealerships, so we went to one and got pictures of some of the cars for me to use in the project.
I cut out the car from the rest of the photo and put that into an Illustrator file. I also went to the Tesla website and got their logo package so I could use it as needed. To promote the 2015 Tesla Model S, I listed out some of it's higher selling points that would appeal to the average family driver.
At the bottom, there is a note that states, "Pull tab and press wheels." This is because, for my particular mailer, once the receiver pulled the tab and pressed both wheels, a connection in the wheels would light up the headlights and taillights. This would be made possible by a bulk kit that could be bought from Circuit Scribe.
The idea is that Tesla marketing would team up with Circuit Scribe, since they're both companies whose business is in the electrical world, and make this mailer possible. The kits can be bought and printer ink purchased to make this a quicker process than someone hand-drawing each circuit (though I also believed that this would also be a useful opportunity to employ local homeless or something along those lines). Once the receiver pressed the wheels, the current connection would be completed, and the lights would turn on.
Due to the age of those buying Teslas and their general market, a quote from "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, was used to help the receiver think of both speed, and, like with the Circuit Scribe Lite Kit, the electricity aspect of the car.
