Fake iPod Nano Commercial
This project was to think of an item for which a 30-second commercial could be created and to find the most creative way to promote this item. I decided to make a commercial for my iPod Nano, which I love.
The idea came to me when I heard the song "Lose Yourself to Dance" by Daft Punk ft. Pharrell. I have a friend, Kevin, from work, who absolutely loves dancing. It sounded like the perfect song for him. While trying to figure out how to incorporate both of these things together, I thought about how he acts at work. He's always listening to music and slightly dancing while in the office and that was where I came up with this idea.
The idea is that having an iPod Nano with you makes it easy to get lost in the music and your workday can go along faster. To add humor, however, it shows that sometimes you may get too lost in the music and you need to be careful.
Matching up Kevin's mouthing of the words along with trying to pick the right parts of the song that matched the mood I was going for was slightly difficult, but I was able to edit it to a good point. I got numerous shots of Kevin dancing as I asked him to do the same basic idea a number of times. I wanted him to dance and then stop suddenly and look at the doorway. The one in the video had the best "I got caught" face, hence it being utilized.
The "boss" who walks up and stares at Kevin is actually my boyfriend, Dan. Kevin was actually off the day I filmed Dan's parts, and vice-versa, so I was happy I was able to get them to look like the other person was actually there for them to interact with.
This was actually a really fun video to make and probably the one of which I'm proudest.
