Pattern Study
This was a project for Fundamentals of Design where we were asked to trace a bunch of shapes onto a piece of newspaper print. From there, we then had to just draw a bunch of patterns to make it visually interesting in some way.
I had seen a friend, not in class, who did this kind of thing for fun and decided to go for her style in a way. That's where the wavy lines and kind of wavy zebra pattern comes from. We were only supposed to use graphite and charcoal to create the piece. I had to temper myself from using too much charcoal as I actually really enjoy that super dark look next to the newspaper print color, but I realized it would've been really boring if I put it everywhere.
I threw in a Star Trek nod on the left side. The star was also done because I just really like space.
