Music Video - "Sinnerman (Remix)" by Felix da housecat
This was a project for which we needed to create a 3-minute (approximately) long music video. We could illustrate the feel or the exact words of the song if that worked best.
It took me a very long time to decide on what to do, even what song to use. I'm a huge fan of music and trying to picture a video to match all of the songs I like was eluding me up until the absolute last moment. Inspiration came when re-reading The Hunger Games one day, thankfully.
One of my favorite scenes from a movie ever is the end of "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan, where he has a bunch of different guys dress up like him and confuse the police. Mostly because the song that accompanied it helped push the scene through. The song used is the original version of "Sinnerman" by Nina Simone.
I asked a bunch of friends to meet me at a local park. I told them it was basically going to be a giant game of tag through the woods. Kevin makes a reappearance, and thanks to him, we found our main character, his little brother Miles. The main villain is Kyle, with the secondary villains being Kevin and Chris. The remaining villains are Mags, Robin, Jacob, Julian, and Thomas.
Miles had the camera a couple of times to get the close-up shots while he was running. Same with Kyle and then Jacob and Thomas. Otherwise I ran behind, as I was trying to go for that "found footage" shots that have been so popular in recent years. I also climbed a tree to get some shots.
Editing the music down to the right amount of time was difficult, but I was able to get it to flow about as perfectly as possible. The next struggle was having enough footage to use to accompany the music. Slowing some shots down seemed to help.
It can seem kind of long, but that's almost the point of it in a way. And personally, I really love the ending, if only because of the perfect face Miles gave me.
